Meshing the worlds of modern marketing, philanthropy, and international education

(while always keeping a good beat in the background)

My passion for international education began after taking part in three different life-changing overseas study experiences in Spain and Chile. Upon returning back to the US from overseas, I began my first full-time position in the field as a Program Coordinator at the Office of Study Abroad & Exchanges at the University at Albany - SUNY. In this role, I quickly realized the disparity that exists between the outstanding overseas opportunities that the university offered and the institutional marketing shortfalls that keep students from exploring them, with a particular focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.

During my four years at UAlbany, my raison d'être was to match the best current marketing practices with robust international programming, using team-based initiatives that allow for maximum impact (while being mindful of existing institutional frameworks and constraints). One of the key areas of focus within this role was in the realm of communications and marketing. By working tirelessly on the print and digital collateral for both UAlbany and the State University of New York, I helped to launch cutting-edge marketing platforms for both organizations that resulted in significantly improved study abroad participation and overall revenue.

My experience at UAlbany allowed me to dive headfirst into the marketing world at Creative Communication Associates (CCA), one of the nation’s leading marketing agencies for higher education. As an account executive, my role was to brainstorm, develop, and launch marketing campaigns through effective collaboration with both clients and our internal creative team.

The campaigns I helped to oversee involved top tier universities on the East Coast, including the world-renowned New York University (NYU). Our team’s work with NYU included the launching of a full spread of material and digital assets, including new overall websites, conversion & SEO pages, “sizzle” reels, printed posters, and more.

My daily collaboration at CCA with colleagues in California, Arizona, and Colorado allowed me to gain deep insight into the world of marketing analytics (and more importantly, how to act on them). By constantly monitoring engagement metrics and trends, I kept our team agile and able to adjust on-the-fly, resulting in greatly improved conversion rates and revenue generation.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

My time at CCA allowed me to launch back into the world of higher education in 2017 by joining Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), a “top-50” research university known for its work in artificial intelligence, machine learning, FinTech, and more. In this role, I manage and develop a variety of research-focused programs that are specifically created for Institute alumni in the West Coast & Mid-Atlantic (US), Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. These programs include a variety of research panels, forums, and galas, occurring in places like Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Stuttgart. I’m also a strategy co-lead for multiple regional teams which help to identify, cultivate, and solicit key alumni prospects within each key region. These collaborative efforts have resulted in $500+ million being raised towards the Institute's current $1 billion capital campaign.

My love for music goes back as long as I can remember, but my "formal training" as a DJ began in 2006 at the finest radio station in Albany, NY - WCDB (90.9 FM).  Since then, I've strived to highlight the finest in underground and independent artists, both here in the US and abroad.
